Children / Youth Ministries

Sunday School Classes
Classes for children and youth from ages 3 through high school are held each Sunday at 10:00 a.m., supervised by Carol Wallace, Director of Children's Work. They are separated by age groups as follows:

Nursery (Infants & Toddlers)

Preschool (Age 3-4)

Primary (Grades K, 1, 2)

Preteen (Grades 3, 4, 5)

Junior High (Grades 6, 7, 8)
Room 218
Senior High (Grades 9-12)

On the last Sunday of each month, preschool
through preteen classes are combined in Room 102.



Nursery Care / Children's Church
This program is available during both Sunday worship services for infants and toddlers (Room 110) and preschoolers (Room 105). Nursery care is also available during various special events held by the church.


Nursery School
A preschool program is available for children ages 3 through 5 on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. September through April. The preschool is led by Carol Wallace, Director of Children's Work.


Mid-Week Electives
Twice a year (usually beginning in October and in February) a six week program of activities is held for all ages Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:00. After dinnertime, different ages split off into different groups for the rest of the evening. The sessions for kids in grades 1 through 5 include a Bible lesson, singing, crafts, and recreation. This portion of the Mid-Week Electives program is led by Lisa Tweardy, Director of Youth Ministries.


Junior & Senior High CrossWalk
These two youth groups, led by Lisa Tweardy, Director of Youth Ministries, meet weekly at the church. Junior High CrossWalk (grades 6-8) meets Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Senior High CrossWalk (grades 9-12) meets Sunday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.


Summer Programs

Vacation Bible School
A one week morning Bible School is held each summer for children from preschool through grade 6.

Summer's Best Two Weeks
This is a two week day camp of activities held during the summer for those who have completed grades 2 through 7. It runs from 9:00 – 4:15 and includes daily Bible study, swimming, archery, many team sports, track and field events, plus lunch and music. SB2W usually runs during the first two weeks of August.

Mission Trip
During the summer, Senior High CrossWalk participates in a short-term mission trip. This coming summer (2007), the youth group will instead participate in a missions conference.



Confirmation Class
Students in grade 9 who would like to become church members attend a confirmation class on Sundays during the Sunday School hour to prepare them for membership.


Music
Some of the musical opportunities for young people, led by Richard McCoy, Director of Choirs, include:

Handbell Choir
A handbell choir for grades 2-6 (Joy Bells) is held Thursdays at 4:00 p.m.


Scouting
The church sponsors Boy Scout Troop 607 (Mondays at 7:00 p.m.) and Cub Scout Pack 608 (Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.).


Family Activities
Some opportunities for families include an Easter celebration (egg hunt, games, refreshments, worship), Advent Celebration (hayride for Christmas caroling, crafts, games, dinner), special dinners, and a church picnic.
